BBB is recurring program featuring black writers in conversation followed by a Q&A. It is a vessel of exchange as we bring black writers to our communities and our communities to these writers to learn about their sources of inspiration.

Boris “Bluz” Rogers is an Emmy award winning poet, Director of Creative Engagement for Blumenthal Performing Arts and the Coach of the three-time National Poetry slam Championship team, Slam Charlotte. The published author of three books is also a recording artist.

Bluz’ voice is a progressive tool used to foster transformation and his poetry is universal, dismantling barriers. He has worked with several organizations, such as CBS Radio, ESPN and SPEED TV, where he wrote and performed several introductions for NASCAR’s nationally televised shows. Bluz’ made an historic impact as the first performer–and African American performer–at the opening ceremony of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. His talent and voice were also used by Charlotte to win the All-America City Award. His unique voice and style were also called on by the Carolina Panthers, and the Charlotte Hornets and the Tony Award Winning show “Freestyle Love Supreme.”

Bluz has shared the stage with many distinguished poets from Nikki Giovanni to Rudy Fransico and he has opened for iconic groups like Pink Floyd, OutKast, and The Roots...This is Bluz.
